Musical programme Duggar De Rang

Jammu, November 25(Scoop News)- The Performers, a group for Art and Culture in collaboration with Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu presented a colourful musical programme Duggar De Rang at General Zoravar Singh auditorium.

Minister for Revneue, Raman Bhalla was the Chief Guest on the occasion, whereas Anil Gupta, President JKDF and Sohail Kazmi, senior journalist were the guests of honour. Soujanaya Sharma, Director Tourism presided over the function.

A number of cultural item depicting Dogra culture and traditions were presented during the programme, which were highly appreciated by the audience. Starting from the royal darbar of Maharaja Hari Singh enjoying songs of Mallika Pukhraj, the programme culminated with traditional Dogra marriage. Others items presented during the programme included folk song Geetdu, Dhoban, Kunju Chanchlo and attractive dance number on famous song ‘Tundey Jammua ne’ sung by Shamima Azad.

Earlier, Shoiab Mallik, Director Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu welcomed the guests and said that the campus is always ready for the promotion of the Art and culture and always helps artists. In this regard, regular programmes are always organized by the campus for the overall development and preservation of our culture and languages.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Bhalla lauded the efforts of the group for organizing such programme and congratulated all the actors/dancers for their performance. He said that young generation is forgetting their culture and traditions, so such programmes are the need of the hour.
Pertinent to mention here, that The Performers, under the presidentship of Urja Slathia has been organizing cultural programmes since long in association with other groups, but this was the first ever production of the group on its own.
Later, mementos were also distributed among the participants by the Chief Guest.
