Srinagar, October 15 (Scoop News) – Dr. Mustafa Kamaal Additional General Secretary and spokesman of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference appreciated the Omar Abdullah led coalition government for the major initiatives taken by it in the last two and half years. Dr. Kamaal said holding of credible, peaceful Panchayat elections empowering of panchayats, a peaceful summer, a record tourist season, accelerated pace of developmental activity and the revival of institutions are certain hallmarks of the present government which the people of the state appreciate.
Dr. Kamaal who was speaking to the party workers at Nawa-i-Subh here said the present government has laid special emphasis on transparency and accountability in governance and the revival of the State Accountability Commission, enactment of the RTI Act , the constitution of State Information Commission and the amendment of SVC Act are historic steps in this direction.
The party spokesman said Omar led coalition government has taken a very people friendly step by enacting the Public Service Guarantee Act which will go a long way in making the delivery mechanism efficient and prompt. He said this act will help the poor people who otherwise wait for days outside the offices of public servants to get their job done.
Dr. Kamaal said the track record of the coalition government on the initiatives towards political resolution of the Kashmir imbroglio are also appreciable. He said the Chief Minister has always made meaningful, appropriate interventions at the right foras to seek the resolution of the Kashmir issue and hoped that the efforts of the Chief Minister with the active support of the UPA government will make some headway in resolving the issue according to the aspirations of the people of the state.
The National Conference Additional General Secretary also appreciated the government’s efforts in creating employment avenues and capacity building to enhance employability among the youth of the state. In this regard, Dr. Kamaal made special mention of the SKEWPY and on the spot Police recruitment in under represented areas of the state. He also thanked the coalition government for opening 23 new Degree Colleges and 32 new Polytechnics, 50 new ITIs to create educational and technical knowledge facilities accessible and closer to the people.
Dr. Kamaal urged upon the workers of the party to take the message of the government to the people and dispel the malicious, false propaganda of the opposition whose intent is to only spread falsehood for their own political gains. He said the people of the state are aware of the facts and feel the difference at the grass root level. He said a lot has been done and more needs to be done and he was confident that the Omar led coalition government will live upto the expectations of the people and carry forward its development oriented, people friendly agenda.
