This is my personal experience from healing nine addictions. All of my addictions covered my many emotional traumas and tragedies. Most people have three addictions, according to Vince Horan, an alcohol counselor in Tacoma, Washington. Cigarettes were more difficult to heal than alcohol, and did a better job in some ways of stuffing my feelings from domestic violence, incest, rape, Fibromyalgia, depression, arthritis, pain, Post Traumat Stress Disorder, and more. I found that prescription drugs stopped the emotional flow making me emotionally unavailable in my anxiety and fear while stopping my physical pain of a twice broken tailbone.
When I stopped taking Depakote for Bipolar Disorder, it took 4 months of withdrawals to come into a sanity of sorts while learning healthy behavior to replace the dysfunctional lifestyle. I no longer was running away from reality. I found Bipolar Disorder was another way to run from reality like alcohol allowed, only with extreme reactive behavior, rather than medicating myself to be numb. I was frozen without feelings most of my life. I could feel the manic and the depression when I was in Bipolar Disorder, but being in the presence of love, scared the hell out of me at that time.
I found that addictive behavior reacts to fear. Healthy actions come from responding in loving conduct. Our society is taught fear to keep us from being emotionally alert and available. Look around at the movies, television, media, drug advertisements, texting/cell phones, and other distractions from being in touch with our inner selves. Today’s students cannot relate on a personal basis. When you react to the fear of the trauma, drama, and woundedness, it creates victimization. Addicts are victims trying to survive in loneliness and a bitter bog of self-piety. We are better followers and do not think for ourselves when irrational.
Extreme, fearful behavior when motivated by looking for your emotional needs to be met can be acted out with the usual alcohol, pot/drugs, prescriptions, food, shopping, sex, gambling, or any compulsive behavior trying to find answers superficially to resolve the inner pain of separation from the loving energy of the planet. Your ego tells you to drink more, eat more, etc. looking for relief and to feel good.
When you have a toxic free body, then your emotions can flow providing a vital life force to keep you healthy. This supports a loving energy, and makes you emotionally available to your self-guidance and others. This is why GMO’s are as dangerous at prescriptions and alcohol; they are toxic also. There is no natural value retained for the body to function in a healthy way.
We master our lives/emotions, and then we are happy that the ego’s fear is no longer running our lives, joyous to be out of the fear, and free of the frightful domination of past injuries, harms, or future calamities. It is all about balancing our energy by releasing what is negative into what is positive. When you come into a loving experience, also called the presence of God, there is no addiction. Your emotional needs are met. You have a chemical balance, a rational life, and sanity.
