What makes up our soul? Is it our personality or the way we live? Is it what we have done or where we have been? How about what we’ve heard and what we’ve missed? Finding a reality where sound doesn’t exist would alter us forever. With out the likes of The Beatles to guide us through sad dark days into the sunlight we wouldn’t have lasted this long. Other greats like Jack Johnson have created a new mind set among our society. And Queen, arguably the best band of all time, helped me to start getting creative with my own music.
The Beatles have really influenced my life; they have shown me a positive
Outlook when things were looking down. Everyone in my family listens to, and loves The Beatles. I’m not quit sure why but it seems like they have gone through some of the same things I have, which helps me understand and get over problems that I have. Most of their songs are bright and cheery but the ones that aren’t are those that mean the most to me like for instance: Fool on the Hill, Eleanor Rigby, and Blackbird. “Blackbird singing in the dead of night. Take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arrive; you were only waiting for this moment to be free.” This quote is from the song Blackbird and to me this means to learn from your mistakes and become stronger as a person.
“Never frown even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in
Love with your smile.” This quote is from a man who brought back old fashioned music into a corrupt world, he is a savior of which is holy to me. His name is Jack Johnson he brought back music with meaning and spirit, music that enchants you to listen to him more and be a good citizen. He shows you a side of life with his music that no one else can. He brought me and my neighbors together as one, hopefully he will help more than just our society but the world.
“We hardly need to use our ears, how music changes through the years.” Queen gave my creativity a jolt of life as I finally started to understand what good music was and how it works. They helped me by having such a wide variety of amazing songs that sound nothing alike and are all different styles. It showed me that a music fad appears and disappears in a ten year period and that not all good/amazing music lasts. I have made some solo’s and beats for my drums that are in my opinion as good or better as some of the people in local groups such as: Anger Management, Beerdogs, Elevated Nature, and The Juvenile Delinquents.
Times change as well as the music, but one tune will stay the same. Only one tune will keep your heart beating. Only one tune will make you get out of bed. Only one tune can tie your life together, and only one tune will keep you happy. Will you choose to find it? Or create it?
