- One of Myanmar Vice Presidents, Tin Aung Myint Oo resigns today after disappearing for a few days from public according to local media sources. He even did not attend the event of seeing off the President Thein Sein who went for an official visit to Japan at Naypyidaw International Airport and people were confused with his sudden disappearence.
- It is informed that he submitted his resignation on May 3 for health reasons just after coming back from Singapore for medical treatment. Tin Aung Myint Oo, 61, is widely known as a hardliner in Thein Sein Government. Especially he is viewed as one of the members of the Myanmar Government who do not want Aung San Su Kyi to be more powerful and stronger on the stage of Myanmar politics.
- In the Myanmar general election 2010, he won a seat in the Pyithuhluttaw and he was appointed as a Vice President on 30 March 2011 along with Sai Mauk Khum. He is also notorious as one in the rich list of former SPDC jaunta. Most local political analysts believe that his resignation is a good sign for reformation in Myanmar.
