On Sunday February 1st, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer provided another example of their immense rivalry, which will surely provide many more spectacular Grand Slam finals, most of which will be won by Nadal.
Although Federer has 13 Grand Slam titles and Nadal 6, I think that if Nadal keeps fit, he will win more Grand Slams than Federer over the course of their careers.
Nadal is amazingly fit and athletic, a fact that I think is beginning to play on Federer’s mind. Unless there is a shock, Nadal will win the French Open and could well retain his Wimbledon title. Federer could still win the US Open, equalling Pete Sampras’s record of titles.
Where this leaves Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray I don’t know. Murray is good enough to win a slam and Djokovic has won one, but Federer and Nadal raise their games at Slam events to such an extent that it might be near possible for either Murray or Djokovic to beat them both in consecutive games.
