Though Nanavathi has submitted his own report to the BCCI, it is up to the BCCI to take an appropriate action against Harbajan Singh.The three member disciplinary committee headed by the President of the BCCI, Mr.Sharad Pawar, President elect-Shashank Manohar and the vice-president Chirayu Amin, will take further action on the Nanavathi Report.
Nanavathi was given 15 days time by the BCCI to complete the enquiry.The report has also ten pages of annexures detailing the results of his investigation.It is not known when the BCCI disciplinary committee will sit and take a final decision. The off-spinner may be banned for one year or 5 tests or 10 ODIs.Even his scale may be relegated from B to C in the player’s contract.
Harbajan Singh who was bid for 3.40 crores for Mumbai XI by Mukesh Ambani for the IPL tournament.Having already banned for the remaining matches of the IPL, Harbajan Singh is also losing nearly Rs 3 crores.
During the enquiry before the Nanavathi commission, Harbajan Singh had frankly admitted his blunder of slapping Sreesanth during the match and also promised to make amends in the future.
As much as Harbajan Singh, the cricket fans are also equally anxious to know what would be the final decision taken by the Disciplinary Committee of the BCCI.
