On Sunday , Gujarat Chief Minister addressing the youths ahead of forth-coming general elections at Fergusson College said that while others are interested in power but he is interested in empowering Indians.
He further stated that India is passing through a condition of hopelessness which he doesn’t favor as he does not support pessimism and believes in optimism. He emphasized that there was a need to modernize India without westernizing it.
Speaking on the UPA government’s ambitious food security program Narendra Modi said “The government in Delhi thinks that just by bringing in the Food Security Bill, there will be food on your plate,” He said the Central government was under the feeling that merely bringing in the Bill would lead to food reaching the needy and poor.
Narendra Modi said that his speech is a echo of the youth of the country which also includes suggestions of the youth he collected through social networking site like Facebook. He stressed that over 65 per cent of the country’s population include youth below 35 years of age who are really alarmed by the affairs of the country.
At the same time Modi said, “While the young generation has lot of talent, they need a proper direction,”.
Speaking on the education system, Modi said that since independence, India is yet to see an education institution that would make a grade in the world except one. He gave the example of China and said unlike that country, we are still to have a road map.
He further added that China rearranged and changed its education system for good and has now around 32 educational institutions distinguished across the world. China has allocated 20 per cent of GDP on education but India has only 4 per cent of GDP.
Narendra Modi said, “If we want to have a good education system, we should create good teachers, which has not been a priority.” He added that it is ill-fated that the research work of the students is not being used for development as is done in the United States..
He emphasized the need to promote research for progress and encourage talent for nation-building.
Modi further said that it is unfortunate that India does not have any one as friendly neighbor.
