The launch of Space Shuttle Endeavor has been delayed by NASA for a fifth time Monday evening due to severe storms in the area, according to the Jacksonville Observer.
Previous launches have been scrubbed due to technical issues and other unfavorable weather conditions near the launch site in Cape Canaveral, Florida. NASA will next try to launch on Wednesday.
Endeavor Commander Mark Polansky has been tweeting about the anticipated launch for days. He posted to Twitter several times today:
Astro_127 Back in crew quarters after a quick dinner. Scrubs aren’t fun, and I’ve been in this situation before. You just have to roll with it. Astro_127 Just woke up. While we all hope that today’s the day, we have a saying that you never know for sure until the solid rockets light off. Astro_127 Today’s weather brief is in 20 minutes. Then, we’ll put on the suits and give it another try.
Floridians and others shared their dismay that the launch won’t take place today, after NASA announced the news on its Twitter feed.
