1888PressRelease – This year Nathan Jurczyk, Vice President of SBGA, has been honored with the title of Co-Chair for the 2015 Spirit of Volunteerism Awards.
The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards is an annual awards ceremony that recognizes individual, group, and corporate team volunteers for their service to Orange County. Run by OneOC, this event aims to thank the volunteers who have helped build and fortify the communities and lives of families in the greater Orange County area. This year Nathan Jurczyk, Vice President of SBGA, has been honored with the title of Co-Chair for the 2015 Spirit of Volunteerism Awards.
“We strive to include volunteerism and community engagement as a core focus of our business activities,” Mr. Jurczyk explained. “Acting in a socially responsible manner is part of our mission. Giving to those who need a helping hand is not only the right thing to do, but it is a focus that attracts the right type of person to our team.”
This focus has brought SBGA a large volunteer base eager to assist in every event. In 2014, SBGA volunteers cleaned the beaches, packed boxes of food for low income families, participated in the Make-A-Wish walk, harvested gardens for local food banks, assembled care packages for homeless veterans, and donated gifts to abused and neglected children. 2015 has already started off on a grand volunteer note with the team packing a record 2,200 boxes of food for low income senior citizens at the Orange County Food Bank.
“I’m incredibly proud, humbled, and thankful to be surrounded by such an incredible group of giving individuals,” Nathan shared, “and I am honored to serve as the Co-Chair for this year’s Spirit of Volunteerism Awards.”
This year’s Spirit of Volunteerism awards ceremony was hosted at the Disneyland Hotel on Tuesday, April 14th and recognized 382 deserving volunteers – the largest group of nominations ever, nominated by 131 non-profit organizations and companies. 2015 also set a record for Spirit of Volunteerism sponsorships – exceeding all historical sponsorship goals, allowing for an exceptional awards ceremony.
Outstanding Community Volunteer honorees recognized by SBGA include the leaders of volunteer events from last year: Suzanne Dowe, Jim Shaughnessy, Uyen Hoang, Jon Meeker, and Jolie Hales.
