Navratra

One more from the land of Festivals. Navratra, A festival completely dedicated to goddess Durga, who has nine avtars. Each of her avtars are given 1 day each out of these 9 days like avtar kali. It is celebrated throughout Northern, eastern and central India. Especially in West Bengal where it is the biggest festival of the year.

Hindus fast, avoid alcohol and non- vegetarian food. Celebrate Navratra with great prompt and joy. It is believed in Hinduism that goddess durga takes all the evils with her and comes back next year with better omen. After the puja the huge statues made by clay which been prayed are devoted to the river.
