NC becoming a threat to our society through its anti people operations: Mehbooba

Srinagar, May 30 (Scoop News) –Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has said that it was now a common knowledge that NC had not learnt any lessons from the past as it had revived the Ikhwani culture that had been crushed after the 2002 elections. She said the NC had not only become a political liability for the state but had also emerged as a major threat to our society through its antipeople and anti social under hand operations.

Addressing a large gathering of mourners who had assembled in Nadihal Rafiabad today to condole the death of three young people in fake encounters. Three young persons, she said the fake encounters that killed them were a gruesome reminder of the crises that we are faced  with .

Mehbooba said PDP had been demanding these measurs for the last several years and it is expected that the people at large and the government realize how important there is not only peace in the state but also for preserving our social , cultural and moral standards.

Reteriating her party’s call for aunited stand on the issues which are highlighted by different party’s. she said we could make a coomon cause on these demands like demilitarization and revocation  of draconian laws and release of prisoners to make our campaign effective. She said similarly a combined voice on other subjects like the travel and trade across traditional borders and restoration of water and power resources to the state could be pursued more effectively if done collectively. “we may continue to hold on to over respective positions on other elements of Kashmir problem. But there is no reason why all the partys should not come together on a common minimum political and economic programme.” She said.

Mehbooba said it was tragic that  our youth which are the main asset of any society and the main resource for development are either unemployed or becoming cannonfodder for one or the other party.

She said this allrming situation cannot be allowed to continue and history would not forgive the political leaders and party’s if we fail to find a solution to it.

Mehbooba expressed the hope that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would address the Kashmir Issue through political and humanitarian angle to realize the social and human disaster that the state is slipping into the traditional bereucratic approach to the problem will only futher complicate the issues.
