NC-Congress Playing Fixed Match on Panchayats: AJKPC

Panchayat Members Hold Protest -Scoop News

Jammu, September 23 (Scoop News)- Accusing both the coalition partners National Conference and Congress party playing fixed match, a large number of Panches and Sarpanches under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference, (AJKPC) held strong protest demonstration outside the Press Club Jammu on Monday against delaying tactics of state government in implementing 73rd amendment of Indian Constitution in the state.

Rejecting the 2 months further extension given by Congress to National Conference for the implementation of 73rd amendment, the AJKPC leaders described it a mere time killing exercise and a fixed match between the two parties.

A Large number of panchayat members belonging to all blocks and districts of the state including Kashmir region gathered outside the Press Club Jammu and protested against the failure of the Panchayati Raj in the state. Holding the state government directly responsible for the failure of PRI’s in the state the AJKPC leaders warned both NC and Congress of dire consequences if they failed to implement the promises made to people of the state and 33,000 Panchayt members of the state .

While addressing the media persons, Shafiq Mir, Chairman All Jammu and Kashmir panchayat Conference said that when the assembly session is about to begin in 6 days there is no logic to give more time to the coalition partner for implementing the amendment in the Panchayati Raj act. Terming it a mere eye wash, Mir said in fact both the parties were playing a fixed match.

Warning the state government of dire consequences, Anil Sharma, General Secretary of the organization said that all those parties and leaders who have played a cruel joke with the Panchayats will have to pay its price in the coming assembly and Lok Sabha elections for which Sharma said AJKPC was formulating a plan how to defeat such people who played anti-Panchayat roles. Describing Panchayti Raj system a complete failure in the state, Anil Said even for the last 6 months , the labourers employed under MGNREGA have not been paid their daily wages which is not only violation of Panchayati Raj Act but also a clear violation of MGNREGA Act. Going a step further, Provincial President AJKPC, Jammu Kulbushan Khajria has announced for Secretariat Gherao on the 1st Day of its opening at winter capital, Khajuria urged all the Panchayat members to get ready for the final battle.

Earlier, a one day convention was also organized by AJKPC, where a large number Panchayat members put their view point and vowed to fight for strengthening the institution of Panchayats at any cost. The sarpanches from various districts of the valley extended their full support to AJKPC and said that they were ready to go any extent under the banner of AJKPC. The Panches and also discussed their role in maintain Communal Harmony in the state and vowed to continue to play the positive role in this regard. During the day long conference Madan Lal Sharmam executive member of AJKPC conducted stage proceedings and vote of thanks was presented by Vimla Devi.

The prominent who spoke on the occasion include Ghulam Hassan Punzoo, Bashir Ahmed Malik, Fayaz Ahmed, Bishan Dass Bhagat, Jugal Mahajan, Chaudhary Mohammad Taj Mukri, Vijay Sharma, Raghunand Singh, Raj Mohammad Chandel, Munshi Ram, Rajinder Sharma, S. Kuleet Singh, S. Darshan Singh, Kanta Devi, Sushma Sharma, Kavita Devi.
