Dr. Farooq Abdullah former chief minister and patron National Conference has said that Muftis have developed a habit of emotionally blackmailing, misleading and befooling the masses on one pretext or the other. Dr. Abdullah who was addressing a series of public meetings in Ukhral, Mahu Mangat and Sumar Jwari in Banihal assembly constituency in support of Sajjad Shaheen said their (Muftis) politics of deceit have exposed them and the people are now united to teach them a lesson by defeating them through the ballot.
Dr. Abdullah said the promises which the Congress-PDP coalition doled out for providing two jobs in each household, zero tolerance of Human rights violations, demilitarization, development, double shift, peace with dignity & corruption free Government have all turned out to be a big farce.
"They (Cong.-PDP) are responsible for the Amarnath land row, which gave vent to religion and regional divide in the state", Dr. Abdullah said adding that had it not been for the resistance by the people of the state the PDP and Congress was ready to divide the state on regional, religious, ethnic, linguistic and caste basis for their political ends.
Dr. Abdullah said time has come when the people of the state must isolate divisive and communal forces who have tried and are trying to divide the state on communal, regional and religious lines.
Expressing anguish over the corrupt practices adopted by the Congress and PDP, Dr. Abdullah said it was their gesture that J&K ranked second to Bihar as the most corrupt state in the country.
Dr. Abdullah said Congress-PDP combine was an immoral coalition in which a number of ministers are involved in "Sex Scandal’ and ‘severe corruption’ charges and to our surprise what we saw the other day is one former minister of coalition regime involved in sex scandal and the other in corruption charges sided with the Prime Minister in his rally in Jammu.
"The only things which flourished during coalition regime with their so called double shift are "corruption" and "unemployment", Dr. Abdullah said adding the party after coming to power is committed to weed out corruption and unemployment from the state. Dr. Abdullah said National Conference (NC) is well aware about the increasing demand of employment both by educated and marginal workers and keeping in view this intensity the party has chalked out an employment policy for solving the unemployment problem in the state, which will be implemented in letter and spirit when the party comes to power, which will pave a way to eradicate menace of unemployment in the state and will take youth of the state out of hopelessness and despair. Emphasizing the need of job oriented education in the state, Dr. Abdullah said, "the priority of my party will be to train skill hands by opening technical institutes in remote and far flung areas so that in this age of technology, technical hands could be produced and easily adjusted in government and private sectors". NC Patron reiterated that National Conference after coming to power will re-start the process of recruitment of youth in the Police department by sending the Director General of Police to remote areas for on the spot recruitment as was being done in the previous National Conference government. He said the party will also lower the qualification bar for appointment of constables in Police department and Class IV category to middle pass and not matric. Dr. Abdullah said National Conference will strive hard to resolve the issues like electricity crisis, water problem and will provide better educational facilities, health care facilities, infrastructure, road connectivity etc, with which the areas remained deprived off during the six years of coalition rule.
