Jammu, February 02 (Scoop News) – Minister for Medical Education, Youth Service and Sports, Prof. R.S. Chib has highlighted the need to make NCC activities part of school and college curriculum to bring all the students under the ambit of NCC programmes.
Speaking at a felicitating function, organized to honour J&K NCC contingent at Republic Day Parade at New Delhi, the Minister said participation in NCC programmes helps to secure attractive jobs in defence and para-military forces. He said cadets get wide exposure of country’s pluralist ethos, adding that inter-state meetings among the cadets build broad outlook and good moral character.
Prof. Chib complimented the cadets for securing 7th position in National Parade on Republic Day, hoping that the cadets will bring laurels to the State in future also.
The function was organized to honour 103 cadets representing J&K for securing 7th position at national Parade.
Deputy Director General, Directorate of NCC, J&K Brig. Thomas George informed that presently 22000 Cadets comprising both boys and girls stand registered with NCC Directorate. He said Abhimanue Manhas brought laurels to the State by leading the boys national contingent of NCC in Republic Day Parade.
He said 4 cadets viz. Abdul Gani, Shivali Sagar, Sumita Devi and Digvijay Singh will form part of State’s Contingent for participation in shooting event in forthcoming national games in Jharkhand.
Earlier a cultural programme was presented by the cadets enthralling the audiences.
