Kabul: Nearly 60 Taliban insurgents have been killed in three separate operations in Afghanistan Saturday and Sunday, said a statement issued by the US-led Coalition Forces in Afghanistan.
The first incident was occurred in the Mosa Qila district of Helmand province on Saturday, where the militants were once in control.
‘The combined force was conducting a reconnaissance mission when Taliban fighters engaged the patrol with rocket and small-arms fire. Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition Forces returned fire and easily out-maneuvered the enemy, quickly putting them on the defensive’ added the statement.
The statement says that three dozens Taliban militants have been killed by using accurate small-arms, machine gun, mortar fire and precise close-air support.
Meanwhile, according to the statement, the enemy also placed an improvised explosive device along the route to prevent ANSF and Coalition Forces movements however, an Afghan citizen led Coalition members to the IED, where it was destroyed in place.
In a separate statement issued by the same office, the Forces said they have killed two militants in an operation in the eastern Kunar province.
In another statement issued by the Defence Minsitry of Afghanistan, it has been claimed that the combined forces have killed 20 insurgents in the Manogi district of the same province last night in an operation.
The Forces have already launched an operation on Friday called The Rock Avalanche against the militants in the Kunar province.
