Need of hour to expose students to recent scientific developments:Minister

 Jammu, December 15 (Scoop News) –    Minister for Education and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said that the need of the hour is to expose students to recent scientific developments by organizing more science exhibitions in the State especially in rural areas so that budding youth take to scientific temper.

He was addressing a valedictory function of 33rd Divisional Level Science Exhibition 2010-11, organized by the State Institute of Education (SIE) at Government Girls High School, Gandhinagar, here today.

 

 Peerzada expressed to inculcate ethics while grooming the students in the modern science, humanities and technical education. For the purpose, teachers have to serve the role of a philosopher, guide and friend for the pupils.

           

                       While congratulating the participant students, the Minister said that youth of the State are talented but need is to utilize and explore it in a proper way for better results. He said that every help is provided to the SIE in this regard. He said in Kashmir Division, Government has canceled the winter vacations to compensate the academic losses.

            The Minister said that sufficient funds are being provided by the Centre but need is to utilize it judiciously. He said that Rs.100 crore have been sanctioned for the development of laboratories in all High and Higher Secondary educational institutions of the state. He directed the concerned officers of DIET and SIE to impart training subject wise at least 200 teachers during the vacations.

            Peerzada said that our state has registered tremendous strides in the field of education adding that the state has notched up 4th position at All India level.

            Referring to regularization in all cadres, the Minister said that the matter is in pipe line and would be solved shortly.

            Earlier, the Minister made a round of the stalls, evincing keen interest in the exhibits made by the students. He also distributed certificates among the participants.

            Director, School Education,  Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi presented welcome address and highlighted the achievements of SIE registered during the year 2010-11.

            Secretary, Board of School Education Dr. Sheikh Bashir Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
