It was really surprising to see India opting to bat for the second time after bowling out England for 345 run and taking a first innings lead of 319 runs on day four of the third and final Test at the Oval on Sunday. I could not believe how an experience Indian Captain Rahul Dravid takes such a decision. It is purely a negative cricket as Indian is already up 1-0 in the series and after a span of 21 years they are going to win a series in England. They should go all out to win the third and final Test Match.

Even going by the law of averages that caught up the Indian Captain Rahul Dravid to bat for the second time, I never feel that India would have lost the match. Having a huge 316 runs lead and the full Indian team to bat, it would have been an opportunity to win the series 2 – 0. Overcoming 316 runs lead and scoring above that by at least 200 runs would have ended almost the fifty-day of cricket and even should have extended by teatime in the fifty day. And if India feels that they cannot survive after coming to bat after tea on the fifty day, it is ridiculous. They should leave playing cricket. Having a batting line up with Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, V. V. S. Laxman and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the approach of the Indian Captain is highly unacceptable.

Now England has an excellent opportunity to draw the game. With India declaring the second inning at 180 for six and setting England a target of 500 runs, England ended the day with 56/0. Now only a days play left and in such a good batting track, I don’t see why England cannot draw the game. The opportunity to win a test match on a foreign soil come very rarely to the Indians way. Thanks to Anil Jumbo Kumble for his maiden test century and also the top order Indian Batsmen who all got very good scores. It really will demotivate the Players who had played so well and also the millions of Indian Cricket fans if England draws this test match.
