Nepal Wins the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-17 Elite Cup

Within the support of thousand of Nepali cricket fans, Nepal won the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-17 Elite Cup slashing Malaysia over 10 wickets here at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground on 12 February 2009. Malaysia after winning the toss had decided to bat first where they scored 124 runs in 37.1 over’s loosing all wickets. Nepal reached the target in 23.3 over’s where opener bats man Sagar Pun and Akash Singh Pariyar scored unbeaten 53 and 65 runs respectively Looking at the baller’s point of view, skipper Prithu Baskota took three wickets, Rochak Bhatta took two wickets while Avinash Karna, Bhuwan Karki and Pradeep Airee took a wicket each. Bam Dev Gautam, The Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal presented the ACC U-17 Elite Cup to winning captain Prithu Baskota where the match was being carried live from the start by Nepal TV-2 Metro. The tophy for man of the match was given to Sagar Pun for his outstanding performance. Man-of-the-match Pun had scored in three sixes and seven fours during his 60-ball knock. Cricket Association of Nepal announced a cash award of Rs 240,000 for the victorious team while sponsor Boost also promised to give attractive gift hampers to the winning members of the team.
