GUJRAT:Sialkot The Netherlands has announced to launch an advanced multi-dimensional Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) programme in the city in collaboration with the business community under the supervision of Government of Pakistan to promote the use of cleaner environment technologies in industrial production, besides educating the business community about the environmental issues in local industrial sector.
Deputy Head of Economic Affairs Royal Netherlands Embassy in Islamabad Marc Mazairac made this announcement while addressing a meeting of local traders, industrialists and exporters at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here Thursday. Dutch Embassy official Ms Kathy, SCCI President Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, SVP Dr Sarfraz Bashir and Vice President Ch Raza Muneer were also present. Earlier, Deputy Head of Economic Affairs Royal Netherlands Embassy in Islamabad Marc Mazairac and Ms Kathy visited several leading industrial units in the city.
President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, SVP Dr Sarfraz Bashir and Vice President Ch. Raza Muneer were also present.
Dacoits loot gold ornaments, cash: Five unidentified armed dacoits looted gold ornaments, cash, electronics and other valuables worth Rs 0.8 million at gunpoint from the house of a local religious cleric in Daska’s congested College Road locality late Wednesday night.
Reportedly, five unknown armed dacoits stormed into the house of Hafiz Nasar Ullah (Khateeb Jamia Masjid Bilal), took all the family members hostage at gunpoint and started looting. The dacoits looted gold ornaments, electronics and other valuables, including the dowry of his sister who was going to be wed two days later. The dacoits tied the females with ropes and fled after locking them up into the separate rooms.
EC urged to take back official facilities from ex-NA speaker; Former MNA and PPP’s aspiring candidate from (NA-111, Bajwat, Sialkot II) Dr Fardous Ashiq Awan has submitted an application to the Election Commission of Pakistan in which she urged that all the official protocol and other official incentives should be taken back from the National Assembly speaker Ch Ameer Hussain to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in this constituency. Talking to newsmen Thursday Dr Fardous Ashiq Awan said Ch Ameer Hussain was also contesting the general elections from constituency NA-111, Sialkot II as PML-Q candidate.
She alleged that Ch Ameer was misusing power and other official facilities in his constituency. Dr Fardous was of the view that free, fair and impartial elections could not be held due to these circumstances in the constituency. When contacted the NA speaker’s spokesman refused to comment in this regard.
