A recent Gallop poll released has revealed some startling information in regards to the US presidential races. Overall, it would look as if GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain will be the one to benefit from it all. This may or may not have some sizeable effect on the general elections.
The poll had revealed that a good enough number of Democrats that have thrown their support behind Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton will possibly throw their support behind Senator John McCain should Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Barack Obama win the Democratic nomination.
This recent result shows that there is still bad blood and animosity between Obama and Clinton supporters. Regardless, McCain seems to be the one benefiting from the constantly battling between Obama and Clinton. At the same time, the results should not be surprising at all.
A little over one-fourth of Clinton supporters that took the poll say that would defect to McCain’s side should Obama win the Democratic nomination. However, a smaller percentage of Obama supporters said they would do the same thing should Clinton win the Democratic nomination.
The results are not surprising as both Obama and Clinton continue to fight it out to win the Democratic nomination and go up against GOP nominee McCain. This is really a heated battle between Obama and Clinton. In a sense, this should not be surprising at all.
According to Frank Newport of Gallup, it is revealed that some of those that support Clinton detest the idea of Obama winning the Democratic nomination. He adds that they would go as far as to breaking ranks with the other Democrats to support the Republican presidential nominee.
