In addition to closing state parks and slashing the education budget for 2010, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is planning on having a tax increase, as well.
In an interview, Richardson told the press a tax increase is "inevitable," and that, while he is not certain which plans will be approved by the Legislation, he is certain people will be paying even higher state tax rates in the coming years.
The problem is with the state budget, which has been out of balance basically since the state’s creation. What is causing it? Maybe the fact that we keep voting in people who think the solution for poor education is to slash schools’ funding.
