Recently, two new polls have been released in regards to the general election race between presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. The two poll results have been quite interesting to say the least.
A new poll released by CBS News shows that Obama has a six point lead over McCain. Obama leads McCain my six points as it is 48 percent to 42 percent. The poll shows that Obama has a lead over McCain. However, the poll reveals that Obama still has some dangerous threats to deal with.
The closing of the Democratic primaries brought up much passion and tension. Many supporters of Senator Hillary Clinton of New York felt bitter. They had voiced their frustrations that they would instead give their support to McCain rather than Obama. It is understandable as this is the product of a long and drawn out battle between Obama and Clinton.
After the compromise on Michigan and Florida was reached, frustrated Clinton supporters swore to support McCain instead.
This poll also shows that McCain leads Obama amongst Independent voters. It has been revealed that Independent voters will prove to be a vital bloc for the elections this coming November.
Those that voted in the poll also say that support from former US President Bill Clinton has hurt more than helped Hillary Clinton’s campaign. In short, Bill damaged Hillary’s presidential hopes.
Also, the approval rating of current US President George W. Bush is now at 25 percent, a new all-time low for him.
Most voters felt the economy as the top concern rather than the issue of Iraq. Many have blamed the price of gas for financial woes. Many are becoming more negative about the prospects of Iraqi stability as well.
