The United States Postal Service announced new postage rates today, and shockingly, they’re not all higher. While stamps go up to $0.42– a one-cent increase– quite a few rates go down.
Prices are lowered for nearby shipments of Express Mail items shipped, online postage prices for Express Mail and Priority Mail and Volume Express Mail and flat-rate box prices for Priority Mail.
You can find all the updated new postage rates here. Another smart step is to purchase Forever Stamps, available here from the USPS.
According to the site, Forever stamps "will always be valid as First–Class postage on standard envelopes weighing one ounce or less, regardless of any subsequent increases in the First–Class rate."
Recent legislation makes it easier for the US Postal Service to increase rates each May within the rate of inflation.
