How about slashing your time for half for few bucks? Not a joke. As the national highway, NH-25 has paved the way for shorterning the journey of 95 minutes to just 45 minutes. But for that one has to pay some cash starting April as the national highway authority of India will charge tax on all vehicles crossing Nawabganj.
The four lane highway connecting the state capital with the industrial capital of the state- Kanpur, has interred its final phase of completion, with Jajmau to Ramadevi crossing left incomplete. But it may take more than half a decade.
NHAI has also proposed for monthly passes for daily commuters which will cost less as compared to daily tax. As per standard exercise on toll taxes, vehicles belonging to VIPs, defence, post and telegraph sectors and ambulance will not be charged.
Though the exact charge to be laid is not confirmed, the standard rate will be somewhere 40 paisa per kilometer. The different categories of vehicles would be computed accordingly by fixing a standard rate for the toll on the route.
As per rough estimates, Rs 20 to Rs 25 will be charged from light private vehicles while commercial once may have to pay anything in between Rs40-50, similarly, trucks and busses will be charged around Rs 90-100 and heavy commercial vehicles will have to pay around Rs 200.
The toll booth is slated to come up at Nawabganj as it will be able to cover all the vehicles from Lucknow to Unnow and Kanpur and vice versa. Only vehicles playing between Kanpur and Unnao will not have to pay the toll.
