Artists gathered in Union Square to protest proposed restrictions on filming and photographing that they asserted would stifle creativity and give authorities a carte blanche to harrass citizens and tourists alike. Since the event on August 1st, City Hall has withdrawn the proposal in response to the overwhelming criticism.
