World Series Now 1-1
The new billion dollar plus Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York came alive tonight as the Yankees beat the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 3-1.
A.J.Burnett got the win as he pitched seven innings giving up just one run on four hits. The Phillies scored in the second inning going up by one run and that was the end of their scoring for the night.
Pedro Martinez pitched well for the Phillies but gave up two solo shot home runs by Mark Teixeira and Hideki Matsui and a run on a single by Posada in the seventh.
The Yankees used the one two punch of Burnett and the final two innings by Mariano Rivera to hold the Phillies to one run on just six hits.
The series now heads back to Philly for game three Saturday night.
