
Kathmandu 11 April 2011: One after the other people are being shot upon and attacked amidst the feeble power cut which has created a sense of terror among the normal publichere in the valley. In this long outcry of attacks and bloodshed, on Monday the newly appointed Minister for Energy Gokarna Bista from CPN-UML was attacked by unidentified assailants at his home residence Samakhushi Town Planning area at 8:45 PM .
He was attacked by two unidentified motorcycle assailants who attacked him with a sharp knife-Khukuri where he was called outside by the attackers from his resident and then was slashed with the weapon. Bista suffered injuries to his head and in the right hand where he was rushed to the Manmohan Memorial Hospital, Thamel. Doctors confirmed of his well being and recovery.
Bista was appointed as Energy Minister by Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal on Monday, He is yet to take oath and assume office.
According to the Eyewitnesses, “The attackers resulted the ordeal in a planned way during the power cut time and fled the scene instantly. Nobody could see their faces as it happened so fast and swiftly”.
Pushkar Karki, Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, said, “The Investigation is on and we are searching for the culprit who attacked the minister. He also hinted the attack might be politically linked and was pulled off by anti-government forces.”
Just on Sunday an Indian business trader Anajani Kumar Chachan was shot dead in Gabahal, Teku.
