Newsroom of AIR Jammu fully modernized after 39 years

            Jammu,November 30 (Scoop News) –  The fully revamped and modernized newsroom of All India Radio, Jammu was inaugurated at a simple but impressive function held at the premises of All India Radio Jammu today.

            Chairman, Kashmir Times group of publication  Ved Bhasin was the Chief guest on the occasion while Station Director Door Darshan, Jammu, former Station Director, AIR, Jammu  K. C. Dubey and Padam Shri Jitender Udhampuri, Joint Director Information, Jammu,  Soujanya Sharma and other prominent intellectual, cultural and social personalities were present.

            Once established in 1st December 1948 in the premises of Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu with 1 KV medium wave transmission, the news unit of AIR Jammu was set up in 1971 and Yuv-Vani Channel was introduced in 1974.

It was apprised that at present AIR Jammu is having wide network of print and electronic media (official and private channels).

            Representatives and correspondents of all the national and international newspapers and media channels are stationed in Jammu and performing their duties.

            However, it is the official media particularly Radio Kashmir, Jammu/Srinagar which has got wider reach to almost every nook and corner of the state.

            In Jammu region, comprising ten districts, it is the news dished out by Radio Kashmir, Jammu which is listened by people and has got tremendous listenership. Not only the people of Jammu region, people across the border also listen to our news and news based programmes.

            AIR news has a great significance in Jammu region as people living in remote and far-flung areas of Jammu division including people of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch depend mainly on news bulletins broadcast by regional news unit, Jammu for the source of information as newspapers and other mediums of communication are not available easily to them.

            RNU Jammu also broadcasts regional Gojri bulletin to fulfill the needs of Gojri speaking largest community residing in Jammu division, mostly in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Steps were taken by the RNU, Jammu to make news more interesting and listener friendly with the inclusion of sound bytes from Ministers, VVIPs and common people so that its reach and access in far flung and remote areas can be enhanced.

            Regional news is being uplinked from Radio Kashmir, Jammu for other stations in Jammu division like AIR Bhaderwha, AIR Nowshera, AIR Poonch, AIR Kathua, AIR Rajouri and Radio Kashmir (winter) with good quality.

            Reception quality within Jammu region is also satisfactory though there is scope for further improvement.
