NHW reopens for stranded vehicles, Air traffic affected

Srinagar, December 29 (Scoop News) –Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall during the intervening night, especially in the higher reaches.

 

Gulmarg got fresh 10 to 12 inches of snow, Tangmarg 5 to 6 inches, Rafiabad 4 to 6 inches, Shoipan town 12 inches, Sedav and Hirpora 24 to 26 inches, Keller 12 to 14 inches, DH Pora 8 to 10 inches, Aharbal 24 to 26 inches, Yusmarg 22 to 24 inches, , Khansahib 12 to 14 inches, Khag 14 to 16 inches, Arizal 15 to 18 inches, Nilnag Gogjipatri 24 inches, Pakherpora 12 to 15 inches, Kullen Razen 8 inches, Gurez 5 to 6 inches.

 

The department of Mechancial Engineering swung into action and deployed their snow clearance machines for removal of snow from main roads, including Gulmarg-Tangmarg road, Narbal-Tangmarg road, Babareshi road, Rohama-Panzla road, Shopian town, Shopian-Kulgam road, Shopian-Zainpora-Pinjoora-Trenz-Turkwangam road, Pulwama-Keller road, Pulwama-Pakherpora road, Pumai-DH Pora road, Kulgam-Sehpora road, Nagam-Pakherpora road. Clearance on other roads was in progress, till the report was filed.

 

Srinagar-Jammu National Highway
had got blocked during the night due to snowfall but was reopened for traffic and only stranded vehicles were allowed to move.

 

In view of poor visibility, no civil flight operated till 1.00 PM from Srinagar airport.
