NIKE shoes has came up with a “spy shoe” that have caught the interest of some geeks at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), who believe the innovative technology the shoe company is developing could help in the further development of the future soldier program, also called the “Land Warrior program” (see video: The Story of Land Warrior http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yxdj__PAIQ ).
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is an agency of the United States Department of Defense responsible for the development of new technology for use by the military. DARPA has been responsible for funding the development of many technologies which have had a major effect on the world, including computer networking, as well as NLS, which was both the first hypertext system, and an important precursor to the contemporary ubiquitous graphical user interface.
It’s parent organization is the Department of Defense.
Inside sources at DARPA seem to confirm the military is looking into NIKE innovative shoe technology (see video: Nike Lunar Hyperdunk+ 2012 Sport Pack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIuoDrBahCM ).
“The Shoe technology being developed by NIKE could help us track and monitor soldiers on the ground”, said one civilian scientist at DARPA in the Research and Development department, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “So, yes, of course were very interested in such things as NIKE is developing right now…” he said.
According to news reports NIKE has developed special sensors on some of its shoes that are embedded in the “corners” of the sole and a processor in the middle that uploads all its information wirelessly to an app in your phone.
This information includes your rate of speed, your reps, and how high your jumping. It also calibrates your capacity and peak efficiently rate…the app also encourages you to upload showoff videos, and compete against others (see article: MAGICAL SPY SNEAKERS HTTP://WWW.VICE.COM/READ/MAGICAL-SPY-SNEAKERS ).
The obvious military application for the NIKE sport pack includes utilizing the same technology and material in combat boots being designed for the future soldier program.
Part of the future soldier program involved the adapting of new cutting edge technology. This in order to give the future soldier every possible advantage in combat.
The Department of Defense (DOD) does this by equipping the average ground-based combat soldier with an integrated set of high-technology uniforms and equipment. These will be linked to an array of real-time and archived battlefield information resources. Soldiers will require not only enhanced versions of existing equipment (rifle, helmet, knife, clothing and equipment) but also new forms of equipment that will become possible as new types and combinations of technologies become viable for battlefield deployment.
That also includes the combat boots the soldier is wearing…
Various Futuristic Soldier programs are heavily funded and underway around the world, including the “Land warrior ” and the “future soldier 2030” program right here in the United States
“Other more long-term goals of defense researchers relating to the future soldier program include, such things as exoskeletons, active camouflage, invisibility, lasers, cybernetic enhancements of individual soldiers…”, according to the scientist. “I can really get into more of this right now, but you get the idea”, he said.
