Ryan Nelson of Oregon captured a six-foot nile monitor lizard in his backyard and forced the beast into a metal dog cage.
Ryan Nelson said he was playing with his young sons in his backyard when he saw what he first thought was an crocodile. He then managed to overtake the lizard with the help of a worker at a local pet store.
The nile monitor is indigenous to central Africa, not Grants Pass, Oregon where Ryan Nelson and his family live. The sheriff’s office did not receive a report about a missing six-foot lizard and they are highly critical of whoever failed to report the missing creature. The nile monitor, with sharp claws and teeth, is capable of killing small animals and hurting humans.
The nile monitor captured by Ryan Nelson is now on display at a pet store.
