Jammu,December 27, (Scoop News)-National Spokesperson Nirmla Sitharaman, today said that the position of BJP on Article-370 was reiterated. She said that post Narendra Modi’s reference to Article-370 during his Lalkaar rally at Jammu on December 1st, it is felt that a healthy debate on Article-370, which was only a temporary provision for smooth integration of J&K, has begun. She said that the party has always advocated the abrogation of this special provision in the Indian constitution and by asking for a debate on it, the party want the people to themselves realize the disadvantages suffered by them on account of Article 370 as it has only harmed the state, created hurdles in the development and full integration with the rest of the country.
In a press conference held at party headquarters on Friday and addressed by Nirmla Sitharaman underlined that there is no change in BJP’s position on this matter, nor did Narendra Modi dilute the party’s position, nor is his (Narendra Modi’s) position different from the BJP.
On the Judicial Commission’s interim report based on which the J&K government hastly reinstated Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo into the Cabinet, Nirmla Sitharaman said that the BJP objects to the decision of the NC-Congress coalition government in the state. It was felt, in the interest of justice, that the government waited for final report to rehabilitate Kitchloo, if at all, said Sitharaman.
The Shrines and Temples Bill, which is pending in the state assembly, been referred to a Select Committee, is a crucial bill to protect and maintain the religious places and monuments, which BJP demands be passed at the earliest, the spokesperson said.
BJP National Executive Member & State Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh, while speaking in the press conference, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue to act as a watch dog to safe guard the interests of the minorities in Kishtwar and elsewhere in the state. Demands of compensation to the victims of the Kishtwar riots and punishment to the culprits will be continuously raised till these are not fulfilled, added Dr. Jitendra Singh.
State General Secretary Bali Bhagat, Senior leader & Media Cell Prabhari Mohan Singh Chauhan, State Press Secretary Balbir Ram Rattan and MLA Sham Choudhary were also present in the press conference.
