Leh (Ladakh),April 15 (Scoop News) –Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC,Leh, Rigzin Spalbar once again reiterated the Council’s resolution of no compromise and no politics on education in Leh district stressing the grave need to bring the Govt. Schools back on track in order to ensure equal education opportunity to the poor children mainly living in rural areas.
Rigzin Spalbar was speaking to a large gathering of students, teachers, parents in the week long K G Bakula Rinpochey Education Campaign, concluded today with a grand function organized at High School Housing Colony.
Spalbar disclosed the decreasing student enrollment of Leh distt saying that the total enrollment of students was about 18000 in 2003-04 which has tremendously reduced to 8900 students today in total 373 Govt. schools of Leh distt and urged every stakeholders specially teachers to try their level best under the given circumstances and resources maintaining the spirit throughout.
Taking the opportunity of the gathered teachers, the CEC made a detail investigation of 10th and 12th board results of Boys and Girls Higher Secondary school, Leh from their respective school principals honoring those lecturers/teachers who have given above 50 % results in their subjects with traditional Khataks and also made a detail inquiry of those lecturers/teachers who have given poor results asking reasons for their failure. Spalbar made it clear that from now onwards the results of each class will be made under the name of their concerned subject teacher.
The education campaign was carried out in entire Leh district headed by Executive Councilors, respective area Councilors involving Sarpanches, Panches, Numbarders, VEC members, parents, officers/officials of Education and ICDS departments. This year along with education campaign, the visiting teams were assigned to motivate every stakeholders by convincing them to take their part of responsibility seriously in imparting education. The campaigning teams were also ordered to collect detail academic reports of every govt. schools in respect of teaching staffs, total student enrollment, infrastructural facilities etc so that LAHDC, Leh could come out with a comprehensive action plan for improving the education system in Leh district.
Earlier, the Chief Education Officer, Leh Punchok Drojey on behalf of Education Deptt. thanked every individual and stakeholders of Leh distt for making the week long K G Bakula Rinpochey Education Campaign a grand success. He made it clear that education department has decided to take strict action against those teaches who will give poor results continuously.
The Programme Officer ICDS, Leh Tsewang Dolma expounded in detail about the aims and objective of ICDS requesting every stakeholder to make foundation of education strong by supporting the already integrated ICDS centers and schools of Leh Distt.
The ZEO, Leh Punchok Angchuk, ZEPO, Goba Housing Colony, principals and headmasters also spoke on the occasion.
