New Delhi (GR-TYP-BIN): Delhi Health Minister Mr. Satyendra Jain confirmed that medicines stock has been doubled to address Swine Flu situation and roped in 25 hospitals including private ones. Dismissing reports of shortage of medicines, the Health Minister said, ‘There were some reports about the lack of medicines and we checked, no dearth of medicines found’.
Mr. Jain said the state government has granted licenses to 40 new drug stores for selling medicines of Swine Flu. He said a total number of 1789 cases have been reported so far in the national capital.
He said that people of Delhi can call on the Helpline number 011-22307145 that has been issued by the Government for any information on Swine Flu. People can also complain the cases of overcharging by private labs.
Mr. Jain appealed to the people not to panic since the situation is under control and the state government is monitoring the situation.
The Delhi government on Thursday directed the Maulana Azad Medical College Hospital and the University College of Medical Sciences Hospital to conduct tests for Swine Flu in their laboratories.
With these two hospitals, the number of government hospitals conducting Swine Flu tests free of cost has gone up to five. The state government has already capped the rate of tests in private labs at a maximum of Rs. 4500, after reports that some labs were earlier charging up to Rs. 12,000.
