All speculation end here. The much talked about hi-profile girlfriend of the French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Carla Bruni will not accompany the French President’s official visit this week. The French President is to attend as the chief guest for India’s Republic Day Celebration.
Carla Bruni dismissing all reports about her secret marriage to the French President told to a leftwing Liberation newspaper. “I cannot take part in an official trip with the president. The couple were not yet married, she said, although "it is in our plans. I am going into the studio at the beginning of February to record my next album and I am currently working at home on my pieces.”
This put Indian officials at ease because as per the protocol only legally married wife can accompany a State President as “First Lady”. But if Bruny had to visit India she had to be treated as “First Girlfriend”.
Bruni’s status has become a state of protocol issue for the Indian officials who were waiting for a go-ahead from the Elysee Palace on whether Bruni would be the part of the French delegation. And with it, it also clears the air about the sitting arrangement of Bruni as the French President will be watching the Republic Day parade on January 26th.
Reports say that Bruni and Sarkozy were to disclose their marriage plans during their visit to Taj Mahal, later this month.
Till we see Ms. Carla Bruni becoming Mrs. Carla Sarkozy, we will have to say WE WILL MISS YOU BRUNI.
