There is an old saying that “war waits for no man.” This is certainly true in Afghanistan where numerous unconfirmed reports indicate that US troops were attacked across Afghanistan on Thanksgiving day.
This is something that is hard to verify right now because the major media won’t report on it because it’s Thanksgiving. I suppose its not politically correct to report on such things on a holiday.
But this is what is going on here as we speak as the longest war in modern day history stretches on an on with end.
Many of the troops won’t get Thanksgiving dinner today or if they do its served on styrofoam plates at a cost in excess of $1000 dollars a plate. That is the cost to get it there from some private contractor who had to ship it in from the US through an incredibly long and expensive supply line through Pakistan and across Afghanistan on flat bed trucks.

Don’t get me wrong they soldiers are grateful for anything they get but in much the same way as a condemned prisoner might be.
For soldiers their thoughts revolve around their loved ones on holidays like this.
For them there is no “Thanksgiving” apart from their wives and children.
I mean they can’t hold their wives or kiss their children as they “duck bullets” in Afghanistan.

“I miss my wive so much and I haven’t held my beautiful little baby girl in almost a year”, said one PFC in the Marine Corp speaking on facebook from Afghanistan on Thanksgiving Day 2013 (who asked not to be identified for fear of being retaliated against by his chain of command for speaking to media without expressed permission from his commander). Another soldier said on Twitter: “I dream of my wife and kids every night and today (Thanksgiving) I cried in my tent – I miss them so much. I wish this God damn war would end.”
There is no thanksgiving in war!
