Davos: While speaking to a panel discussion of World Economic Forum, the Pakistani Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gillani urged the need to isolate the local people from the militants.
We are supporting the people, in shape of forming tribal lashkar (tribal volunteer force), just to isolate the terrorists from the locals, which’s counterproductive.
We cannot win a war only killing the people of a country but we will have to win the hearts, we should provide them schools, hospitals, roads and better life facilities.
We will have to make a distinction between the peace-loving people and insurgents and the US attacks in the tribal areas against the suspected Taliban and Al-Qaeda insurgents are creating more troubles for Pakistan.
We will have to review our policies in Afghanistan and Pakistan because we have not been able to achieve the goals so far because of the wrong policies and the lack of proper implementation.
Our core issues are poverty, unemployment, poor infrastructure, injustice and lack of education and these are the reasons behind terrorism too that is why the people easily fall in the hands of terrorists.
He also added that the we would only negotiate with those ones who will put down their arms.
Eventually, bombing some area and killing the people without any discrimination of women, children and insurgents, such policies could only produce more terrorists, suicide bombers and instability in the world.
