Northern University of Bangladesh students protest against the authority while they blocked the road in Dhanmondi 4/A at Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh last day noon to claim their eight point demands.
Northern university students have been asking for those points since two years ago to the authority but they got almost nothing though committed to solve those problem. Therefore the students broke into fire last noon and gathered all of the students from here and there even from the class room.
The eight points were: 1) Reducing retake fine 2) Changing grade system 3) Increasing lab facility 4) Reducing delay fine from 1000 taka to 500 taka 5) To manage everyone’s internship 6) Set up another library 7) Taking a special test before final exam and 8)well behavior from the administration.
At the time of about 11.30 am (local) the students come out to the main road beside the varsity and blocked the road for about 30 minutes. Traffic police tried to solve the problem but they failed. Then the authority came to the road and promised to solve the demand. Then students leave the road and went for a meeting. At the time of entering into the varsity a popular Bangladeshi actor Zahid Hasan saw the gathering and show interest to mediate between students and authority. Then they went to the meeting room. The vice chancellor, 10/12 senior teachers, Zahid Hasan and almost 100/120 students were present in the meeting room and other student were waiting outside the room.
The authority agreed to solve one point (reducing fine) and promised to solve other in the next meeting which was called for Thursday by the VC.
