The main attractions are the beautiful temples dedicated to the Pancha Pandava, the five brothers of the Mahabharata. Especially lovely is the Amarnarayana temple with its shrine of Bhimeswara, where Bhima, the strongest brother of the Pandavas, is supposed to have installed a Shiva Linga. The Samadhi of the saint Narnappa, author of the prothetic Kala Gana, is also in the temple.
There is a superb Chennakesava temple here, where the sanctum remains lit by the Sun all through the day. This is achieved by a strategically positioned window in the Garuda (eagle) shrine which lies in front of the temple.
