The NPP Chief condemned Omar Abdullah Govt. for detaining Mirwaz Maulvi Umar Farooq who was to pay tributes to his late Father Maulana Mohd. Farooq on his death anniversary today. Mirwaz Maulana Mohd. Farooq was brutally assassinated on 21st May, 1990 at his residence by the terrorists where as late Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, Chairman of People Conference was assassinated the same day in 2002. The Govt. action in putting the Kashmiri leaders including Maulvi Umar Farooq, Shri Ali Shah Gelani under house arrest and imposing police curfew through out the Valley amounted to a great assault on democracy and rule of law showing that the present Omar Govt. standing on the crutches of the Congress has lost the confidence of the people and therefore it has no right to govern J&K.
