Mumtaz Ali Jan took oath as president Driver union Chitral.

CHITRAL: Mumtaz Ali Jan and other office bearers of Driver/transport union Chitral took oath during oath taking ceremony at Town Hall Chitral. Additional Deputy Commissioner Chitral Abdul Ghafar was chief guest on the occasion who administered oath to newly elected president and his cabinet of driver union. Addressing on the occasion Mumtaz Ali Jan thanked all of his supporters and determined that he and his other colleagues will work day and night for benefit of passengers. He also announced that one seat will be free for student in each flying coach. He said that our association will play vital role in elimination of passenger’s problems at Bus stand. He thanked Additional assistant Commissioner M Ikram and district administration for their support. He also hailed contribution of interim president of transport union Ghulam Muhayuddin. He demanded for opening of Lawari tunnel on daily basis because in case of closing of Lawari tunnel for 5 days drivers face great hardships who bound to stay in hotels at Chitral and Dir and spend huge amount on their accommodation and meal as a result they compelled to overcharge from passengers to recover his expenditures.
He said that Lawari top road is in very dilapidated condition from Ziarat to Ashriat and 3 road mishaps occurred as a result precious lives were lost. He urged on federal government to open Lawari tunnel on daily basis especially in winter season when main road is blocked at Lawari pass. He demanded from district administration for deputing a sweeper at Bus stand of Chitral on permanent basis. He also demanded for weekly checking of petrol pump of Chitral and to analyze their scale that either they are correct or looting transporters. As well as car parking must be arranged for small vehicles at Bazar to minimize Rush in Bazar. He demanded for arrangement of supplying of potable drinking water at each Bus stand of Chitral. He announced for one free seat for student at each flying coach.
Addressing on the occasion additional deputy Commissioner Abdul Ghafar stressed upon the transporters to render services to their clients because passengers are their benefactors. He assured of fully support to transport union for providing facilities to public. The chief guest administered oath from newly elected transport union. A large number of people from all walks of life including president trade union attended oath taking ceremony.
