According to the estimates conducted by CNN, Barack Obama has “truly” taken Texas. Senator Hillary Clinton of New York had defeated Senator Barack Obama of Illinois in the Texas, Ohio, and Rhode Island primaries. However, the biggest issue was Texas as it has both a primary and a caucus. While a candidate can win delegates in the primary, that same candidate can win even more delegates in the caucus.
While Hillary Clinton had won the primary, Barack Obama had won the caucus. As a result, Obama will be getting more delegates than Clinton will in the state of Texas. In a sense, Clinton’s victory should be Obama’s according to the delegate count.
Clinton received a marginal victory over Obama in Texas’ primary by 51-47. However, it took several days to figure out the results of the caucus. It is estimated by CNN that Obama had won more delegates than Clinton during the caucus. That would make another straight victory for Obama in regards to caucuses.
While Clinton narrowly won more delegates than Obama in the primary, Obama had won more delegates than Clinton in the caucuses.
In a sense, Obama could look as the “true winner” of Texas.
