What a surprising turn of events to know that Senator Ted Kennedy has considered endorsing Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for the nomination in the democratic presidential primary. Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, has expressed the same support for Obama, saying that she had found an ideal presidential candidate to lead the country for a change. And the political breeze seems to be blowing right to the direction of the Kennedy clan’s home turf in Boston, where Obama is expected to be endorsed.
Senator Kennedy has been the primary author of the country’s failed comprehensive immigration bill, along with Arizona Sen. John McCain, who both fought tooth-for-tooth during the bill’s deliberations in Congress.
Never it has crossed the minds of political observers that a white politician would be endorsing an African-American candidate, simply because both are devoted democrats. But unlike Hilary Clinton, Obama has not even dented a little issue on the stalled comprehensive immigration bill during his campaign sorties in some of the states he visited.
Although it is still unripe to conclude as to whether Obama will make be nominated to represent the democratic party in the November presidential elections, there are speculations that the Illinois senator is likely to carry on some of the true tasks and ideals of the democratic party. Born to a Kenyan father and a white American mother, Obama could make a last ditch attempt to woe the Latino and other immigrant population across the country if only to make an edge over the rest of the candidates for the overall presidential nomination. Likewise, this will test speculations that the Hispanic population are anti-African-American candidates.
