Kabul: Democrat presidential hopeful in the coming elections Barack Obama on Sunday morning met Afghan President Hamid Karzai, whom he had harshly criticized for not doing enough to rebuild the country and reform police.
The two leaders met in President Palace, held talks for nearly two hours and lunched together, said a press release from the office of the President.
Although they did not held any press conference or public comments, the main focus of the talks was the war on terror, the drugs and the obstacles in the way of rebuilding the country, said sources in Kabul.
Obama reached Kabul Saturday morning; he then flew to Nangrahar province where he met American commanders and Afghan officials including Nangrahar governor Gul Agha Shirzai.
Obama has a clear cut stand that America should focus on its war on terror in Afghanistan and Pakistan not Iraq. This is what President Hamid Karzai and Afghan officials want.
