Obama raises $52 million in June; Romney will let financial losses go; McCain asks blacks not to for

Sen. Obama will be joined by anchors Brian Williams of NBC, Katie Couric of CBS and Charles Gibson of ABC on his upcoming trip abroad. “The coverage feeds into concerns in McCain’s campaign, and among Republicans in general, that the media is imbalanced in their coverage of the candidates, just as aides to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton felt during the primary season,” the International Herald Tribune reports.

Sen. Obama recently released his financial summary for June, reporting $52 million in fundraising. Obama’s fundraising record was $55 million in February. GOP rival Ariz. Sen. John McCain raised $22 million in June.

Former GOP candidate Mitt Romney will not seek donations to help repay the $45 million he lost in personal investments to his campaign. “Some analysts said McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, might undermine his reform message if he picks someone who bankrolled so much of his own campaign,” The Boston Globe reports.

Sen. McCain’s humor is “sharp, unrehearsed, and at times, way, way over the line,” Politico reports. While some believe the humor is a “mark of authenticity,” others find it offensive. According to Politico, McCain’s jest proves that he’s a, “candidate who is more comfortable in his own skin than with a teleprompter.”
