Obama explained that the superdelegates within the Democratic Party said that they should throw their support to him if he wins the most states and pledged delegates. In that regard, Obama said: “My strong belief is that if we end up with the most states and the most pledged delegates from the most voters in the country, that it would be problematic for the political insiders to overturn the judgment of the voters.”
At a press conference, Obama said to reporters in Seattle that the near 800 superdelegates within the Democratic Party should think about who is the most able to combat against GOP nominee John McCain in the general election. He gave the prediction that the race with rival Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination would be a tight race.
Right now, he wants to focus on the voters who are not as familiar with him as they are with Hillary Clinton.
“We are always at a disadvantage with voters who don’t know me as well because they known an awful lot about Senator Clinton and there’s affection for president Clinton,” Obama had explained.
He believes that a victory in Washington State on Saturday will give him a boost in the upcoming races.
In that regard to the Washington caucus on Saturday, he said: “On Saturday, if we come out of here with momentum and with additional delegates, that will be helping to lay the groundwork for what happens in Maryland and Virginia two days, three days later and that in turn will have an influence on how voters in Ohio and Texas perceive my candidacy.”
