In his interview with 60 Minutes, US Democratic movement hopeful Barack Obama said that he could take last minute “swift-boat” attacks from Republicans on both his race or using drugs in the past. Obama said that the GOP are attacking him is because winning the Democratic nomination will make him the toughest candidate on the block.
The interview is set to be broadcasted on Sunday, February 10 at 7 PM.
In addressing if he is able to withstand attacks from “swift-boating” Republicans who may use drug use in the past as a youth, Obama said: “Whoever wins this Democratic primary…they’re the toughest, baddest candidate on the block. And if I beat Senator Clinton, then I will be more than capable of beating the Republicans. And if I don’t, then she’ll be the nominee and [race or past drug use] will be a moot point.”
Obama has vowed not to use the same tactics against Hillary Clinton. Steve Kroft asked him if he would pull out any skeletons from Clinton’s closet. Obama said that they do not play that game.
He would promise by saying: “We’re not going to fabricate things. We’re not going to try to distort or twist her positions.”
