Barack Obama has continued his criticism of rival Hillary Clinton about her candor and trustworthiness on Wednesday. He said that Clinton was indulged in double-talk in regards on bankruptcy laws, trade, and other issues.
Obama said: “That is what this debate in the party is all about.”
He mocked Clinton for saying she voted for a 2001 bankruptcy law and saying she was happy that it did not pass.
In the past, both he and Hillary Clinton praised NAFTA which was enacted during Bill Clinton’s presidency. But, Obama now criticizes aspects of NAFTA.
“You can’t always tell what Senator Clinton’s position on trade has been,” Obama said while promising to bring the kind of straight talk needed in this campaign.
Both Obama and Clinton bitterly clashed over questions of truthfulness and consistency throughout Monday night’s televised debate on CNN.
“I think it’s very clear that Senator Clinton … and the president have been spending the last month attacking me in ways that are not accurate,” Obama said to reporters.
Hillary fired back.
“I think what we saw last night was that he’s very frustrated,” Clinton said. She added: “I believe that the events of the last 10 or so days, the outcome of New Hampshire and Nevada, have apparently convinced him to adopt a different strategy.”
Former President Bill Clinton said that he enjoyed the bickering between Hillary and Obama.
“I know you think it’s crazy, but I kind of like to see Barack and Hillary fight,” Clinton said to white crowd of at least 300 at a black church in Greenville, South Carolina. He then added: “They’re flesh and blood people and they have their differences – let them have it.”
