It seems that presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois is not just taking full control of his campaign; but, he is also taking control of operations by the Democratic National Committee (DNC). In short, the DNC is going towards a new transformation and a path that strays away from conventional and traditional methods.
In short, Obama has taken control of both his campaign and the DNC. Recently, large parts of the DNC are relocating to Chicago, Illinois, to be fully integrated with Obama’s campaign. That should give Obama full resources provided by the DNC. At the same time, it should help the DNC out with Obama’s fundraising prowess. So far, it has been revealed that Obama has a sizable advantage over McCain in regards to fundraising.
Recently, Obama has also been supported by former donors to current US President George W. Bush. For the duration of the campaign, both the Obama campaign and the DNC will be centralized in Chicago. Obama’s senior staff will be in control of the DNC’s political operations.
According to Karen Finney, spokeswoman of the DNC, she said: “As part of the efforts to fully integrate DNC operations with the Obama campaign here in Washington, in Chicago and in the states, political, field and constituency operations are moving to Chicago to work in the Obama headquarters. The goal is to consolidate these efforts into one operation and effectively drive one national strategy.”
As a result, Obama would have assistance from the DNC in sending people out to battleground states. Polls show that Obama is in dead heat with presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona.
So far, this could be one step towards unifying the Democratic Party. It is already known that the Democratic Party is not usually unified. The long Democratic primary between Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton of New York is solid proof of that realization.
In short, Obama is in the pilot’s seat on this big campaign warship.
The question is, would the McCain campaign and Republican National Committee (RNC) attempt to do the same thing? So far, the GOP is working to salvage its damaged image. At the same time, not everybody within the GOP are is thrilled to have McCain as the presumed party nominee.
